Shiralee Siebert is a fine artist currently residing on a small-holding in Chartwell, Gauteng. It is reminiscent of her childhood home and the beauty she experienced there. Her heart is happiest when in nature with the earth beneath her feet and the changing seasons before her eyes.
Shiralee has been making art for 50 years, but the past 14 years mark a period of rebirth in Shiralee as an artist, not only in terms of subject matter but also in technique and expression. She sees her current work as the truest reflection of herself as an artist and is excited about the work still to be produced. Her current collection of work focuses on the spiritual aspect of our humanity. She aspires to share her journey of healing through choosing the Ancient Path in a contemporary way to make it real and relatable to the viewer.
Her work is inclusive of a variety of expressive and sensitive mark-making. She enjoys the use of a limited colour palette and although proficient in most mediums, her love for oils and charcoal define most of her art pieces.
Apart from focusing on portraiture and figurative work, Shiralee also enjoys mentoring developing artists on their journey of expression.
Shiralee Siebert aligns herself with causes that fight for liberty and justice. In a recent MeCaht International Human Trafficking Conference 2019, she created an interactive art-piece as a declaration of unity and hope for trafficked victims.
She was placed 3rd in the premier portrait competition in South Africa – the 2017 Sanlam SPI Portrait Award. One of her portrait submissions was accepted into the Top100 SPI Portrait Award in 2019.
Her paintings have exhibited at The University of Johannesburg Art Gallery; KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts Gallery; Lindy van Niekerk Gallery, Cape Town; Waterfront Gallery, Cape Town; Robertson Art Gallery, Western Cape; GFI Art Gallery, Port Elizabeth.
Shiralee Siebert’s art-pieces have been purchased from local and overseas clients – namely in Connecticut USA, London and Saudi Arabia.
Shiralee graduated from the school of Art, Ballet & Music in Parktown, Johannesburg before continuing her studies in Graphic Design at the Witwatersrand Technikon.
